Maison Martin Margiela for H&M Spring/Summer 2013
Those photos were shot at launching presentation of Maison Martin Margiela for H&M on Manhattan, New York, October 23rd, 2012. It was performed by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and her dance company, Rosas. The location, a decayed building on Beekman Street, added edge to the collection. They set up 31 squares with white sand over nine floors. Dancers in MMM for H&M outfit performed on it as seen in the photos. As a result, each square was left with unique calligraphy. Their performance showed us the stress, struggle and confusion of our modern lives. Dancers rolled on white sand, as if they are looking for something that they cannot find. But, life goes on anyways. It leaves a trace of it, in this case, a calligraphy, which I assume they destroyed after the show was over. client: H&M
